Morning
Mornin'
Morning.
morning
You mean new slack? https://slackhq.com/simpler-more-organized-slack
@U08TV6CTC but why did they do it lol, lets stick an extra bar to the top. It just looks ugly to me. Have you found it useful?
which is a shame considering how much nicer it is to use than the more obvious slack competitors
Yeah they had an update to remove the gamer aspect @U08TV6CTC
@U82DUDVMH I cant see why discord would have a bad rep tbh. You cant start ur own server then set all the permissions really easily. 🤷
I'm in a few Discords, it's good enough. I don't use it for gaming at all but don't feel like a second-class citizen or anything. Big missing feature is threads though.
I remember when threads were introduced to Slack and thinking "when will people ever use this?" and now it's a staple of my day-to-day
2 things: - lots of people don't like the slack thread ux, so they might be trying to find a better one - some people don't like the effect on conversation flow. Maybe their audience need it less, and the risk to conversation flow is too high.
So i find threads for learning to be useful, But i find threads for conversations between colleagues to be annoying. Threads here is great! I can pop a message and come back to it hours later. Why would i need a thread if i'm asking someone or a team directly about something. Discord chat can be very fast but theirs search history etc, I really like the app haha.
I find it's useful for teams with, let's say, high-touch stakeholders of one sort and another - so specific queries can be sort of quarantined within a thread and not dominate the flow of the public channel
I have to say, I do miss it in discord quite a lot. If you want to reply to something 2 pages up, you basically have to @ whoever wrote it which is a bit rude really. The slack thread inbox is a nice 'soft' notification ...
