Good Morning!

slipset08:04:41

I haven’t just realized, but it seems like I can’t be bothered with Twitter anymore. I guess there is just to much noise to signal, and I can’t be bothered tweaking my feed so I get rid of the noise. This is not an April’s fools thingy.

borkdude08:04:35

@slipset how many people were you following? I've decided years ago to reduce the amount of people I'm following to 150, regardless of how many people follow me

borkdude08:04:25

can't be bothered with Facebook anymore btw, for the same reason: too much noise/crap

mpenet08:04:50

fb is very popular for the marketplace here

mpenet08:04:13

but that's about it.

borkdude08:04:59

can't believe how much FB managed to screw up their UI over the years, for such a big company

mpenet08:04:12

was it ever good?

borkdude08:04:17

it's crapping slow too

borkdude08:04:29

but thanks for React, bye

mpenet08:04:13

yeah. I only use http://m.facebook.com from my phone, I don't bother on the desktop

slipset08:04:53

@borkdude I’m following too many, but it’s hard to unfollow people. I guess there’s a mix of fomo and nostalgia.

genRaiy09:04:16

I have lists on twitter and never see the timeline, I also use TweetBot so no ads. Most of my lists are 10-20 people that I like on specific subjects plus actual friends

genRaiy09:04:19

people who RT too much get muted - no need to unfollow 🙂

javahippie09:04:19

There is also a setting that hides retweets from certain accounts

dharrigan09:04:46

I deleted my FB account years ago. Best choice evar

dharrigan09:04:09

and on twitter, I only mainly subscribe to software tweets, so I know when new releases come out

dharrigan09:04:15

I don't follow any "influencers"

dharrigan09:04:09

so, mostly just techies on my tweet list

dharrigan09:04:25

I even obligerated linkedin

synthomat09:04:55

good point, wanted to delete my FB account too – there's only one person I wanted to contact. But anyway, there are other channels

pez09:04:46

Morning! I’ve started to using LinkedIn lately. Like, I have had an account for ages, almost exclusively as my CV hosting. Now I have started to use it for the Clojure group there and to grow my network of Clojurian contacts. I actually started with the latter a while back and LinkedIm suddenly started to have some value for me. FB I only use because so many people have things wrong there, and I need to tell them what is right. It’s a duty thing.

pez09:04:42

I’ve started to use Twitter a bit more as well lately. For similar reasons as with LinkedIn. There is a nice Clojure community there. However I also use Twitter the same way I use FB so don’t follow me there if you can’t stand unpopular opinions. 😃

borkdude09:04:14

LinkedIn is the account I ignore most of all my "social" media accounts. Recruiters are ignored by default, I only accept invites from devs.

pez09:04:30

The last two weeks I’ve got recruited to speak on two meet-ups on LinkedIn. Haha.

borkdude09:04:55

Btw, blast from the past, I've got deps.clj (a port of the Clojure CLI to Clojure/babashka/graalvm native) working as a Windows .bat script! https://twitter.com/borkdude/status/1377550820443615233

pez09:04:42

Interesting day to announce such a magical thing. 😃

pez11:04:27

@borkdude, the user needs to first install babashka, right? I wonder because I am considering if this script should be used by Calva instead of deps.clj.jar.

borkdude11:04:53

@pez that's correct, babashka is needed. and if you already have babashka you might as well use bb clojure ... but if you are stuck on an older version of babashka, this might still be useful

pez11:04:53

Yes, might as well use bb clojure … then of course…
