I tried to write a bit of js some weeks ago myself. Just a tiny snippet to include in some HTML. Figured "just write some JS" was pragmatic. I spent a few hours. It didn't get to ripping my hair out (yet). Decided to try solving it with #scittle. Turns out that https://babashka.org/scittle/ was exactly what I needed 😂 problems solved in a few minutes, no hair ripping required. It's funny. I repeatedly try convincing myself that Javascript, Go and the likes are pramatic. Then stuff like this happens, and I have to reconsider 😄

Do you mind if I use this quote in a presentation? I'm just writing some slides about scittle ;)

Today I had to answer the question what should go on my Github profile. At least a guess. WDYT? https://github.com/PEZ

a few misc items which IMO would optimize things I'd drop father of five , which while has to be an incredible accomplishment, it can rub people the wrong way. Reminds me of one guy who'd hold his family photo during an interview. Don't be that guy :) Would also drop 1.2K stars on Github. Let people discover things - that way it will look like you're their discovery (vs. receiving a pre-chewed pitch) I have similar feelings towards the auto-generated graphs - also they can mean anything. Let people just use the GH UI. Or maybe save a selection of 'featured' PRs for later e.g. maybe in the CV. (Dosing info is a good strategy IMO - have some on linkedin, some on CV, some on GH. Serving yourself on a silver platter projects lower value)

...a bit raw but since I also saw this on linkedin, I guess this is all about optimizing that sweet consulting pipeline. best wishes!

sorry, forgot :) I don't know how to put it succintly... imagine you're on a date, would you mention your awesome salary or how available and faithful you are? for whatever reason, most humans don't like things 'served' so easy, they prefer to 'chase' a bit, and perceive they're getting something that is scarce - premium even

that might sound like just a strange/cutesy analogy but it directly affects specifics like your BATNA. By signaling you really really want job X, you may as well be dropping a few tens of thousands 💰 in negotiating power
