It's always nice to wake up to something like this: https://twitter.com/borkdude/status/1581914490123132928/photo/1 Good morning!

Good morning.

Open sauce is a great idea... So I have the code and I might be even able to fix it... if only I could build the !@#$ thing.... (Java code and Gradle as build tool... just following the instructions gives me errors šŸ˜ž )

pez12:10:55

The maintainers need to know this. To me it is stuff for nightmares to think about contributions tripping on the build instructions/build process. šŸ˜±

thomas12:10:06

good point... I'll have a look if there are more docs somewhere as well.

lemontea13:10:17

off topic: ā€œOpen sauceā€ā€¦ :thinking_face:šŸ˜‹

Jakub HolĆ½ (HolyJak)07:10:50

I like containers for that. There you can hardcode all the versions and tools that are needed.

pez08:10:54

It can also add friction for the contributor. So it's a tradeoff. šŸ˜ƒ

thomas09:10:06

nothing is perfect...

lemontea19:10:13

@U052852ES mercifully, like in grad school, you donā€™t need to be perfect, you just need to be good enough

Morning! When tweaking my Github profile I looked on my commit graph and think it is interesting that it shows that I took an almost complete pause from coding during July. It's the first time in many years I take such a pause. I don't think I strictly needed it, but it was good for perspectives. (So maybe I did need it, lol.)

I remember towards the end of that break that we both started to cancel things in our agendas ;)

pez13:10:15

Haha, indeed. So, I did need the break then. Good to have that settled! šŸ˜ƒ

simongray06:10:56

I think this is very healthy. Good for you!

simongray06:10:45

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast

teodorlu13:10:37

I love breaks.

genRaiy13:10:03

good morning

mkvlr14:10:40

guess who didn't need a break.

pez14:10:20

Looks like it intensified for you in July!

mkvlr14:10:45

this isn't me!

pez14:10:30

Haha, so it really is a guessing game? Hmmm

mkvlr14:10:31

I'm running at a fraction of that

mkvlr14:10:15

easy to guess though. Tip: it's a clojurian

pez14:10:51

Found him! (I can narrow it down that much for others. šŸ˜„ )

šŸ™Œ 1
slipset14:10:29

Iā€™m sure that code is borken.

šŸ˜‚ 2
borkdude14:10:45

I did need that break, but then got bored and started to make something :/

pez14:10:02

Hahaha, omg.

pez14:10:24

#C03U8L2NXNC?

borkdude14:10:44

and #C03QZH5PG6M

šŸ‘€ 1
borkdude14:10:44

I'm still working on both now with the gracious time provided by @U5H74UNSF though :)

borkdude14:10:57

(as we speak)

pez14:10:38

Didn't know about #C03QZH5PG6M. I can't keep up, dude!

borkdude14:10:40

and in less than two weeks, there will also be a talk about it, the procrastination of this talk lead to some other tool as well. (https://github.com/borkdude/lein2deps)

šŸ˜¹ 2
pez14:10:23

It was you who said you procrastinate by making things, iirc. šŸ˜ƒ

javahippie14:10:14

If you squint a little, some letters seem to appear. Iā€™m pretty sure he is leaving us secret messages

javahippie14:10:07

When all is done, the commit graph will spell out a new Clojure program, the pinnacle of meta-programming

lemontea16:10:18

I sometimes wonder - how did anyone pull that off? Thatā€™s some superhuman level work ethics right thereā€¦

lemontea16:10:12

(ā€¦ said by someone typing from Asia, a region known for insane work ethics)

borkdude17:10:59

Btw I noticed that on the grey days, I did so some stuff, but it seems this only counts commits on default branches :P

lemontea17:10:24

yes, thatā€™s a quirk of how github counts contribā€¦

lemontea17:10:02

(more quirks for fork/pr, transferā€¦)

pez18:10:03

So, ... that is 5863 squash commits?

simongray06:10:58

It's easy to have a graph like @U04V15CAJ when you can rely on the drones of the entire Bork collective.

OMG. I've been preparing a short presentation for a functional programmers meetup on Wednesday. Now I realize I should have prepared for it in English!

lemontea18:10:09

email as a programming language? lol

lread18:10:58

those two 2-column grey bars are oddly satisfying.

robert-stuttaford05:10:45

thank you @UE21H2HHD! yes - rest is just as important as effort šŸ™‚

lemontea19:10:37

@U0509NKGK oh, sorry if those emails bring back traumatic memoriesā€¦

lemontea19:10:06

and yes, proper rest is important šŸ‘

robert-stuttaford05:10:50

what i mean is i don't use email, haha - it's a terrible way to interact with humans on your team
