I think the most recent concerts I've been to were Amanda Palmer / Edward Ka-Spel (Legendary Pink Dots); Throbbing Gristle; Morrissey. All in small venues.
Hi ! are there any academics around here ? I have some questions I would like to ask you, I need some input π
@alexmiller your son has great taste
I went to the Foo Fighters last Monday. It was really crowded, but a nice show, even while Dave had problems with his voice.
I went to see A Perfect Circle yesterday, they killed it. King Crimson gig in november, canβt wait
Went to Amanda Palmer earlier this year as well. Amazing concert!
@dev964 Where did you see AFP?
London, Union Chapel
one of the best venues in town
Oh yeah, that concert was wonderful (she recorded it for her Patreon supporters as I recall).
Peter Hammill did an amazing concert at Union Chapel years ago.
Amanda Palmer and Morrissey must have been pretty different crowds
AFP was supposed to be Morrissey's support act but she got sick and had to cancel π It was the third time I'd seen Morrissey (and would have been the first time I'd see AFP).
Computing via natural erosion of sandstone https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/17445760.2018.1455836
Here is a more intelligible paper abstract about what this is all about by the way

Here's a decent article on the shape optimisation one. This really is so cool :-) https://m.phys.org/news/2017-12-scientists-erosion-unusual.html
(the article is still just a summary, but it's at least a bit more than the paper abstract is)
And here's what appears at first glance to be the full paper: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-17777-1
As long as you want your processing capacity measured in something like picohertz, I guess
