surprisingly well! completed my full hand-crafted full rewrite of my emacs config (so long, prelude!) and it kinda works

i recently did that as well, a completely minimalistic config now

nowadays emacs comes with lots of fancy stuff and many of the problems that these starter packs were solving, aren't necessary anymore

I didn't go for minimalistic, daddy still wanted eye candy

but indeed, I've prolly 50% less packages than before

and most of them really wanted

others more like meh

i recently heard that rms actually uses emacs without packages

because he likes the vanilla emacs just fine
