Interesting survey results for this 'best language on JVM'. Kotlin 90, Clojure 86, Scala 75 points so far. https://www.slant.co/topics/397/~best-languages-that-run-on-the-jvm (Caveat - I don't know anything about the http://slant.co website, although you can vote without creating an account).

We had a great turn out at ClojureBridge at the weekend, 21 women and a 10 year old girl that was teaching their coach how to use Vim. Thanks to all the coaches that worked hard to give the students a great experience during the event, we were a few coaches short, so were quite busy all day. The students were very appreciative of the workshop material and the coaches and all were eager to continue their journey into coding. Thanks to Funding Circle for providing coaches too and of course for allowing us to use their lovely venue. We will be running another ClojureBridge London event around February next year, with Signal Media in their lovely new offices. We are always looking for venues, hosts, sponsors and organisers to run more events so please get in touch (DM me here on slack). https://clojurebridgelondon.github.io/

Are ClojureBridge events always on weekends..? I would REALLY like to volunteer as a mentor / trainer, but weekends are family time, what with my back and forth to London from Scotland... ๐
@U08ABGP70 Always Friday evening, then 10.30 until 5.30 on Saturday. So what I think you are saying is that you are going to help run a ClojureBridge event in Scotland with your family ๐ Seriously though, if you want to run an event in Scotland, we can coach you all of the way.
We also have a good (not great, but good) balance to the ClojureX lineup this year, with 5 women presenting at the conference (only one short of our record of 6 last year). I will endeavour to keep supporting anyone with the slightest interest in speaking at our events and ensure there are no blockers preventing anyone feeling unable to speak or join in with our events.
that's excellent news. thx @U05254DQM for keeping on that
All this work has delayed me in fixing my Brompton tyre though ๐
does anyone here have a half-decent workflow for going from sketch to an html style-guide and usable less||css ?
@mccraigmccraig - I don't I am afraid, but I wonder if importing the Sketch File into Adobe XD would give you more options in terms of creating and HTML style guide and/or CSS..?
(Latest version of Adobe XD can consume the latest version of Sketch's output, as far as I know - I have been told as much by a designer friend)
if I'm free maybe I can make a trip down to coach next feb
I coached a youth hack up here earlier in the year and it was fun
python, not clj tho
Python is great for youth hacking - I am teaching it on Fridays to my kids' Primary School's final two years (only volunteers, not everyone)
was gonna say
two school years at once - ambitious ๐
@alex.lynham - It's a small Primary school, this year P5,6 & 7 are all in one yeargroup. Those of 6 and 7 age-group are offered the chance to choose to do an hour of code-club on Fridays between 1400h and 1500h.
The first rule of code club is you do not talk about code club?
Okay that is a bit more civilised haha
