@thomas I can't afford the time to go to #C04V12NPC much as I would like to.

agile_geek07:06:01

I'll have to plan ahead to go next year.... before I need a visa!

martintrojer07:06:58

breaking my Euroclojure suite this year, have been to them all.

martintrojer07:06:15

The best by far was the first one.

reborg07:06:08

I’m also skipping… and going to curry-on in Rome in 3 weeks

reborg07:06:11

speaking of favourite euroclj, I’ll always remember the 2+ hours chatting with Rich in Krakow

thomas07:06:44

@agile_geek: yes.. time is very valuable.

malcolmsparks08:06:36

Looking forward to next Tuesday. Going to the London Clojure meetup.

malcolmsparks08:06:05

Haven't looked at spec. at all yet.

agile_geek08:06:32

@malcolmsparks: Might see you there if I get time to go.

martintrojer08:06:53

I give up. pre-fix comparison operators are impossible #LispFail

martintrojer08:06:33

And yes, I've heard all memory-tricks to make them readable

martintrojer08:06:35

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

otfrom08:06:38

and I can never remember PEMDAS

martintrojer10:06:35

yeah, its me, I know 🙂

martintrojer10:06:50

boris standing down

martintrojer10:06:06

"If you break it you own it" doesn't apply apparently

otfrom10:06:20

OMFG May vs Gove?

minimal10:06:04

the predictions are coming true

minimal10:06:20

about boris never running

martintrojer10:06:40

he is clever enough to understand that PM is a poison chalace

martintrojer10:06:01

he values being popular more than country/duty

martintrojer10:06:15

maybe he is playing the long game

martintrojer10:06:28

He will be the next tory PM, after all the grunt work is done

xlevus10:06:52

I was hoping he'd run for it. Anybody but May.

bigkahuna11:06:57

So Boris caused Brexit for nothing

bigkahuna11:06:30

Et tu Michael 😄

thomas12:06:59

dunno what to say now...

thomas12:06:58

just when you think things couldn’t get any more worse/bizarre/[email protected]#$ up.

xlevus12:06:28

It's ok. We'll have May as our PM next and then we can kiss the technology sector goodbye.

thomas12:06:42

you forgot the bit where we lose the ECHR as well @xlevus

xlevus12:06:10

oh human rights

thomas12:06:01

very funny..in sad kind of way

minimal12:06:07

she has backtracked on that

thomas12:06:30

the least she cloud do, the problem is the fact that it crossed her mind for more then 5 seconds.

otfrom12:06:24

ECHR is independent of EU membership and is written into the Good Friday Agreement. Westminster Gov't can't get out of that w/o renegotiating peace in Norn Iron

thomas12:06:32

I thought ECHR and EU have very little in common. ie. two different institutions

otfrom13:06:13

I miss the old days when I used to compulsively refresh Teh Graun just to see which famous person had died that day

otfrom13:06:20

speaking of which, Alvin Toffler died today. I suppose the Brexit news was just too much for him

xlevus13:06:38

I guess there's too much on the news about other tofflers to cover it.

thomas14:06:12

EuroClojure tickets are avaible

agile_geek14:06:59

I'm beginning to feel like taking a month off work, switching off all my electronic devices and living at my mum's house in the middle of the fens might be a good idea

xlevus14:06:28

I'm (probably) doing that soon \ o /

xlevus14:06:41

yer mam's lovley. makes me tea in the morning and everything :p

agile_geek14:06:53

Cool and yes she is.

agile_geek14:06:49

BTW seriously, if you fancy getting away from it all this actually is my Mum's static caravan at the bottom of her garden https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/12421095?guests=1&s=4BA5xeTh

xlevus14:06:37

deeplink doesn't work

xlevus15:06:26

well, that is nearly literally away from it all.

xlevus15:06:38

a bit closer to cows, but away from most things

agile_geek15:06:57

She has 4 Red Dexters (cows)

agile_geek15:06:55

the Heron is a (regular) visitor but not a pet

agile_geek15:06:59

If you flick tho pictures you can see the 1/3 of an acre of orchard which is lovely.

xlevus15:06:12

tbh, I'm too city to get that far away from things. But will be spending a few weeks poolside somewhere in September.

agile_geek15:06:35

You can tell I'm a country boy at heart. Grew up there from age of 13-18 and in the general area from 4 years old.

agile_geek15:06:30

I apologise to those expecting talk about Clojure in this channel as you may think you've tuned into an episode of Country File or the Archers. Normal service will be resumed

glenjamin15:06:58

i’m of a similar mind, end my contract and go find a nice cave somewhere to hide in

thomas15:06:47

surprisingly flat @agile_geek

agile_geek15:06:48

@thomas: it's the Cambridgeshire Fens. Mostly at or slightly below sea level. Was swamp land reclaimed by Medieval farmers and 4th Earl of Bedford. Several 100 thousand years ago it was joined to the Netherlands.

thomas15:06:27

aahh ok… for some reason I thought it was further “up north"

agile_geek15:06:02

I live in North East (Washington, Tyne and Wear) now but I grew up in Cambridgeshire

thomas15:06:09

makes sense now.
