There was a recent talk on AWS + Lambda + Clojure + REPLs. I can not, for the life of me, find it. It's more recent than https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GINI0T8FPD4 , and also given by a well known member of the clojure community. Anyone know the talk I'm referring to?
Hi! I was watching a presentation earlier this week (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP8wImz-x4w) where the speaker talks about the value of building applications on top of a (declarative) information model. Do you know of any further material I could read/watch on this topic?
sometimes I just think I want to start a war with JavaScript community to make sure they pay enough attention to the differences between "state" and "value", and between "data stored locally" and "data can be mutated locally in syntax". ðŸ˜
Global state does sound like a box of problems, especially when you dont have ways or methods of updating in a way that are accountable and/or easy to express
has anyone here learned another speaking language while also working on learning a new programming language?
I’m fairly new to clojure and it’s great. I get to work on it for full work days and time after but I also wondering if it would be too much to practice learning a new language (spanish) in my free time
@alexkeyes I am pretty sure this will vary a lot from person to person. As far as I can see it doesn’t seem to be an issue
I guess my only concern is it affecting my clojure learning or half assing my language learning
@alexkeyes I really doubt so. Computer languages are quite different from human languages. I highly doubt you’ll start spitting Clojure while talking spanish or vice-versa 😄
@alexkeyes Oddly enough, I was looking at this site today... about practicing/learning spanish.... http://itsnachotime.com/
@bherrmann ha great website name
many years ago, I hosted my blog on http://baconwrapped.com
which I stupidly let lapse years ago
oh yeah, I’m sure I’d have to buy it if I wanted it now
if all goes well I'm mostly off line until Tuesday, I can't remember the last time I went 24 hours without Internet...
a friend's wedding in a remote location, it was a nice escape with no cell coverage - there was wifi but a lot of reason not to spend time with the Internet
@noisesmith enjoy!
