Morning all.

ukpono10:09:20

Good morning ☀️

seancorfield15:09:23

Mornin' ... how's COVID over there? We're seeing massive spikes over in the US...

dharrigan15:09:47

Barely registering in the news

seancorfield15:09:21

I told my step-dad that me and the missus had COVID in August and he was like "Oh, is COVID still around?" so I wondered if there was no increase in England... 😧

dharrigan15:09:53

🙂 There is an increase, for sure, and the rollout for boosters has been brought forward - but nothing headline atm.

dharrigan15:09:02

and the rollout is for 65+

seancorfield15:09:18

"Everyone" seems to be getting it here. We had it for two weeks last month. Our best friends have some down with it this week. And the headlines are full of warnings. The govt is making more free tests available starting next week and the new boosters are available for all ages already.

dharrigan15:09:08

Well, given the way that the UK is being run here atm (tis shocking), I don't expect any government leadership on this until, well, perhaps it smacks them in the face.

dharrigan15:09:31

Perhaps the USA is being better prepared for winter.

seancorfield15:09:51

4.6 per 100k test positivity in the UK. It's 12.8% here in California and several other states are much higher than that.

dharrigan15:09:17

Well, you know what UK people are like - no close quaters please thank you very much huzah!

seancorfield15:09:04

Hahaha... I think back to our trip in March '22, just after restrictions were lifted there and it was like COVID had never happened! We were still pretty locked down in California back then so it was a big shock.

seancorfield15:09:48

The pubs were packed and no one was wearing masks. Certainly no "social distancing" happening back then 🙂

dharrigan15:09:32

I see a few people from time to time wearing a mask, but it's very rare (and they're probably doing it since they're in contact with a immuo-compromised person - perhaps?)

dharrigan15:09:02

But naw, generally, all back to normal for day-to-day interactions

seancorfield15:09:51

Some places in the US have gone back to mask mandates -- and a lot of people in stores near us are masked again these days.

seancorfield15:09:16

We're probably coming over next year for a couple of weeks. We're hoping to organize a week on the Norfolks Broads, and also some time with friends in few places. Now that mum has passed, we don't have to plan around visits to her so we can actually do a real "holiday in the UK"!

dharrigan15:09:47

Well, if you pop down south, drop me a ping and perhaps we can have a drink! 🙂
