is there a library there?

chrjs09:08:39

Morning

maleghast10:08:15

@agile_geek - Are you being paid, at least?

maleghast10:08:22

Morning everyone 🙂

jasonbell10:08:56

@agile_geek just go back to drinking Lemon Zinger and reading PopBitch….. (wonders if anyone will get the reference)

maleghast10:08:15

@jasonbell - It’s not an Office Space thing, is it? (Only seen it once, but it feels__ like that movie)

jasonbell10:08:09

No. A little more political than that.

maleghast11:08:41

I ❤️ Cookie Monster - this gif is AWESOME

maleghast11:08:21

@jasonbell - Please tell me, I have been wracking my brain instead of cheating (heading to Google) or writing the code that I should__ be writing.

jasonbell11:08:37

@maleghast It’s from “In The Loop” where Jamie McDonald (the crossest man in Scotland) delivers his to do list to Toby, the aide. 🙂

maleghast11:08:46

Ah, a film that I have been “getting around to” for far too long… Sounds to me as though I need to pull my finger out and watch it - I think that I might enjoy it quite a lot… 🙂

jasonbell11:08:03

I learned some new words…. 🙂

agile_geek11:08:09

@chrjs nice gif...I have to wait until I'm outside the Faraday cage of a building I'm in to read any emails or social media!

maleghast11:08:37

Where are you working @agile_geek ?

agile_geek11:08:21

Canary Wharf

jonpither13:08:50

how many people from this channel do you think we could get to simultaneously appear on http://appear.in/uk-clojure

jonpither13:08:23

I want to get a picture of UK clojurians for the blog I'm doing on @mccraigmccraig

jonpither13:08:57

I can't mention the whole channel, otherwise it would have been a masterplan

jonpither13:08:09

let's shoot for 4pm?

jonpither13:08:29

Randomly threw in a few mentions

bru13:08:17

oh, nice. I’ll do my best to be there 🙂

chrjs13:08:54

Can do, though being a Northerner I’ve never actually been to London Clojurians 😯 whistles inconspicuously

chrjs13:08:18

realises whistling is by definition, conspicuous

jasonbell13:08:33

4pm, count me in

jasonbell13:08:50

I would have had a shave if I’d known

maleghast14:08:28

@jonpither I can, but only “virtually” - I am in Scotland…

mccraigmccraig14:08:47

(for a fair while, if truth be told @jasonbell )

jasonbell14:08:03

@mccraigmccraig 🙂 you could sell offcuts on ebay and we could be all like you 🙂

mccraigmccraig14:08:42

don't tell anyone - that's my backup business plan!

maleghast14:08:45

I understand now - I followed the link and now I am all alone in a video-conference room 58 minutes too soon

jonpither14:08:52

come on everyone

maleghast14:08:03

Yeah, come on in

Rachel Westmacott15:08:16

@here doesn’t work here

jonpither15:08:27

that was randomly kind of fun .. ish

mccraigmccraig15:08:45

was that a webrtc thingy ?

jasonbell15:08:53

this isn’t the past or the present, this is the future!

Rachel Westmacott15:08:59

It’s still surprising that video-conferencing isn’t a solved problem

mccraigmccraig15:08:03

if so, i think webrtc might not be quite production-ready

Rachel Westmacott15:08:04

even now, in the future

minimal15:08:18

it’s solved if you have 200k

Rachel Westmacott15:08:31

what do you bu for 200k that solves it?

minimal15:08:49

the thing they had in 24

jasonbell15:08:00

have to say one of the pluspoints of Northern Ireland….. fibre is good

Rachel Westmacott15:08:02

I’m not sure that was filmed in realtime

minimal15:08:05

cisco telepresence

mccraigmccraig15:08:14

have you started to encode all the nouns in your life as numbers @minimal ?

jonpither15:08:34

what are peoples twitter handles who were on that?

Rachel Westmacott15:08:34

@PMWestmacott apparently - but I view twitter as read-only and very occasionally.

chrjs15:08:41

not me, stuck on call 😞

jasonbell15:08:46

mIne is @jasonbelldata

maleghast15:08:56

I think video conferencing is something I will leave alone until we’ve got a Fibre connection in the glen…

maleghast15:08:25

Oh my Twitter is “@COliverGodby”

mccraigmccraig15:08:49

BT are promising to have rural connectivity totally sorted by 2073 @maleghast

minimal15:08:51

the lawyers for an ex-company of mine had telepresence in UK and US so some colleagues had a meeting using it once. It comes with its own internet connection

dominicm15:08:57

I thought they promised 2016

maleghast15:08:07

@mccraigmccraig - Aye, I know… There are strong__ rumours that we are going to get a submarine cable from Tarbet across Loch Lomond, but I am not holding my breath…

maleghast15:08:10

(hence the satellite)

minimal15:08:11

@chris_mcdevitt if i was in it

maleghast16:08:14

That fan on the wall behind me makes me look as though I’ve got an odd pink hat on…

korny15:08:33

I feel summoned! Sorry folks, haven't been here for a while, babies + work have chewed up my clojure time.

djtango15:08:58

has anyone worked with hikari-cp before?

thanos18:08:58

I had some cases where hikari reported a (potential) connection leak but it always ended up being a database or slick issue. might be worth checking the query states?

djtango15:08:24

I have had a connection leak for the last couple of days and can't seem to work it out

yogidevbear16:08:50

Ah bummer, I missed the group get-together

maleghast16:08:21

@djtango - I am afraid I have not… I am currently trying to get the hikari component for duct working with my project (doesn’t use hikari-cp), so if I find that’s stable I’ll let you know…

djtango16:08:04

@maleghast I came across that in my googling - let me know how you get on. Good luck!

maleghast16:08:33

Thx - you too!

maleghast19:08:06

@djtango - FWIW, I got the hikari component for duct working in my (non-duct) component app, so I would give it a big thumbs up. IT would behoove me to say that it’s not been load-tested in my app (at all), all I am conferring on it is that as a drop-in replacement for what I was doing it’s very good. 🙂 Cheers!

maleghast19:08:40

@djtango Belay that, I don’t believe that I have got it working after all…

djtango20:08:25

oh no - what's happenign?

maleghast23:08:19

@djtango - Sorry was a bit wrapped up in making it work. It works!

maleghast23:08:42

SO, @djtango, if you are rocking a component-based system and you want a Hikari connection pool, look no further than the duct component - so far ( now that I ‘ve cleaned my n00b off the code I wrote the first time) it’s really good.

maleghast23:08:52

Anyone else still about?
