@mtnygard I think I sorted it out, but I want to get my fully-operational thing operational before I come back with "I did it!" There are definitely some tweaks needed to the infrastructure files in the example. I will post to the mailing list once I am certain I've actually got the problem surrounded. Thanks for the pointer!
