Tjena! Sorry for switching to English, but I wanted to see if there's any interest in having an in-person meetup in Stockholm. I have a talk, but no venue, so if anyone has a venue but no talk, there could be some synergy there. 😉 I suspect I could convince my employer to kick in for some pizza and drinks.

Here's the pitch: > Blambda: the sound of Babashka and AWS Lambda colliding > > “Clojure on AWS Lambda, how hard could it be?” The answer to these famous last words turns out to be, “not so hard, actually.” So let me rephrase: “Clojure on AWS Lambda without slow deployments, long coldstarts, gross tools like Docker and NPM, and a feedback loop that makes you want to give up and go back to C; how hard could it be?” > > That’s a much more interesting question, and one that will be answered in this talk. Join Josh as he tells a tale worthy of Terry Pratchett: a well-meaning but bumbling tourist wanders along, surrounded by heroes, beset by difficulties and the occasional villain, and somehow surmounts all of these hurdles to discover the one true lambda runtime for Clojure. > > Equal parts educational and humorous, this talk will dig into how AWS Lambda runtimes work and how you can build your own from scratch using nothing more than Babashka, a native Clojure interpreter for scripting with fast startup.

You could reach out to https://www.linkedin.com/in/magnussedlacek/, who runs https://www.meetup.com/Func-Prog-Sweden/. The December meetup looks fully booked (I’m doing a talk on tap> + portal 🙂), but you’ll probably get in the next one.

jmglov11:11:14

Haha, you read my mind. I pinged Martin from FuncProgSTHLM. Figured it could be an either/or or both/and situation. Looking forward to your talk!

Though I guess the December meetup hasn't been announced yet, because I only see the one next week on games in Erlang (which I will be attending also). 🙂

We might be able to host you at the Agical office. I have a short talk myself that we could fit in at the sands time. I’ll have a talk with my bosses if you like, @U054AT6KT

@U0ETXRFEW Yes please! If I give the talk at a Clojure-specific meetup, I can dive into the code more. 🙂

pez13:11:40

You should also consider Func Prog STHLM (NB, not the same as Func Prog Sweden). We might be able to do this together with them. (Probably we should wake Stockholm CLJ up. But I don't know how to.)

jmglov13:11:28

I am so confused! 😅

jmglov13:11:21

It was FuncProgSTHLM that I submitted my talk to. If it makes sense to have a combined sthlm.clj / FuncProgSTHLM meetup, I'm totally up for that. I'm also fine to give the talk to separate meetups, with a slightly shallower dive for the non Clojure-specific meetup.

jmglov14:11:22

@U055RDVAV Ah, that one's streaming online. I'll definitely tune in for you and Yehonathan!

The talk I had in mind is the one you've already heard to, @U054AT6KT. Maybe Martin isn't super interested in having me repeat it in FuncProg STHLM context. But anyway, Agical would be happy to house your talk. And you should of course get it onto those two FuncProg scenes as well.

I see you are an organizer https://www.meetup.com/sthlm-clj/. Maybe it's about finding a good time now? 😃

jmglov11:11:59

How about mid-to-late January? That'll give me plenty of time to prepare it. 🙂

emilaasa14:11:20

Looks like a useful talk! If you have it in article form / the slides it's knowledge I'd like to have as well even tho I can't attend talks in sthlm 🙂

pez15:11:06

Second half of January sounds great, @U054AT6KT. Looks like the Agical office is free all days there so you just pick one that works for you.

jmglov10:01:28

@U0ETXRFEW What do you think about Tuesday, 31 Jan?

jmglov10:01:55

@U6T7M9DBR Sorry I'm seeing this comment so late. 😬 I will absolutely publish my slides afterwards. You can also read more about Blambda on my blog: https://jmglov.net/blog/tags/blambda.html

emilaasa10:01:16

Hehe no rush 🙂

pez09:01:57

@U054AT6KT I'm pretty swamped for January. Can we make it mid Feb?

jmglov10:01:15

Sure! There's a FuncProgSthlm meetup that will either be on the 7th or 14th of February, so how about we aim for the week of 20 February?

pez11:01:19

I’ll check availabilities and get back to ya!

jmglov13:01:23

Awesome, thanks! 🙂

pez18:01:01

Wednesday 22 or Thursday 23 of Feb, @U054AT6KT. Do you have a preference?

jmglov08:01:30

@U0ETXRFEW Thursday 23rd would be great!

@U0ETXRFEW Whilst I am one of the organisers of the group, perhaps it would be better for someone over at Agical to create the event, since y'all will be hosting. What do you think?

jmglov08:01:12

Pitch will be happy to kick in for some food and beverages. I'm working out the details for that on my side. 🙂

pez10:01:28

Not sure if anyone at Agical is organizer for that group.

jmglov06:01:29

Linus Eriksson is, if he still works at Agical. I'm happy to add you as an organiser if you'd like, or I can create the event myself with help from you on the details on the Agical side.

pez06:01:52

Linus is not working at Agical these days. Adding me as an organizer sounds great.

jmglov13:01:21

Ugh, it turns out to be a whole big thing to add an organiser. :face_with_rolling_eyes: The easiest thing to do is probably for me to create the event and ask you for some details. I'll DM you.
