I see this as a good thing. We need Mozilla to make enough money that Firefox can stay somewhat competitive against Google's Chromium monopoly.

if Mozilla becomes as ad-riddled as Chrome or Edge, who is going to want to switch to them? It's almost monthly now there's some new anti-feature I have to turn off like this. The irony that i switched to Firefox because of Chrome crippling adblockers ...

Mozilla is making enough money, they need to stop spending it on anything besides making a good browser for a few years if they hope to have a chance

I've started using https://librewolf.net/ as my base browser because of [the many] anti-features like these.

I used libre wolf, waterfox, falkon, qutebrowser, eww, palemoon and brave. In the end, I settled on brave and eww. In today's ecosystem it looks like a browser needs serious people working on it and keeping it useful and competitive. It needs money, work and some institutional clout (to influence standards). All these fork browsers are labors of love, but that'd not enough to eat Chrome's lunch

Are you actually forking the ASL2 code and making it available as OSS? Or are you just using it internally?

I plan to use changed version in my open-source project, so I guess it will be publicly available, too
