morning
Good morning! Looking forward to present Joyride together with @borkdude tonight! Also quite nervous about it. To help me, my phone camera mount just broke. Will have to revert to sitting down and use the builtin web camera. It would have been great to stand up because that gets me more into deliver mode.
You did very well @pez! Thanks to you and @borkdude for the very interesting presentation!
Thanks, @UE21H2HHD! An that's a super awesome logo.
Ha! Sorry about that! I probably should not goof around when you are doing a presentation. I couldn't seem to help myself.
I solved the âI want to present standing upâ problem by placing my laptop on a stool on the table. It created a perfect working stance to demo stuff as well. Less things can go wrong with a setup like this, even if it would have gotten more pro footage with the phone.
So will Santa bring you a standing desk?
I can't fit a standing desk. I'm working from my living room. But I will use this stool often now since it turns the table into a standing desk perfectly. Santa will need to stick to his plans to bring me socks. đ
@U052XLL3A had limited space as well and got something like a coffee-table sized desk that turns into a standing desk just by pulling it up, from IKEA. Expect itâs cheap, too!
I think it was like 1m x 1m, or maybe less
I was envious until I happened upon a full-size motorised wood desk - for free! Best material luck I had for a long time
It's this one: https://www.inventarland.dk/haeve-saenkebord-single-lift-60x80-alu/ Not from IKEA, not sure if they ship outside of DK
That's cool. Though my wife would never allow that desk in our living room. Not even if it's Danish design. đ
Ah, my bad. Seemed very IKEA-ish!
@pez after many years of indoctrination in indoor decoration, I can sympathise with your wife đ
However, the indoctrination does not penetrate my need to put function over form. Your back is more important than aesthetics!
I hope your regular work position is more comfortable.
More comfortable than with a regular table with a stool on it? I think it is perfect ergonomics. And I vary by sitting in a Jetson chair which keeps the angle between my legs and my back at > 90 degrees. I need that angle because of a back injury from my youth. (Sports are dangerous). And I think maybe the Jetson is designed by a Swede, but no rule without exceptions, as they say. đ
Well, if it works, then great!
That chair looks sweet
TBH Iâm not aware of Swedish design, apart from the IKEA stuff. Weâre really proud of our furniture here in Denmark, so it gets all of the attention.
I might start manufacturing a stool for the purpose. All desk->standing converting stands out there are crap in comparison.
hahaha
Iâve seen crazier things in âDanmarks NĂŚste Klassikerâ, a tv series wherein designers compete for âbest stoolâ, âbest couchâ etc
Well, it did the job, @U052XLL3A! Do you have something different now?
Generally Swedish design can't begin to compete with what the Danes do. But there are some great designers here as well. Like Bruno Mathsson, who designed the Jetson. I have the leg rest to go with it. Expensive stuff of course. When I got this Santa told me I'll have to settle for socks for the rest of my life. Totally worth it.
Iâm actually behind on desk chair swag⌠My chair is a cheap IKEA!
Trying to alternate between that, sitting on a yoga ball and standing
Most of my home is IKEA
Markus chair?
No, that seems fancy đ
I think mine is Lüngfjäll
https://www.ikea.com/dk/da/p/langfjaell-konferencestol-gunnared-morkegra-sort-s19174972/
I got the Markus because of all the good reviews and because I tend to lean back đ. I had to hack it to make it usable. The LĂĽngfjäll definitely looks nicer.
Iâve had better, but also worse.
I think the high end of the scale might forever be what I lucked into using at my first workplace; https://www.dpj-workspace.com/dk/ergonomisk-kontorstol/14797-herman-miller-aeron-grafitsort-m-zonal-back-1.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAm5ycBhCXARIsAPldzoXE8awdbZTW7AoIDztn1pUFd14-bpERp07uQ-lvKXZX6JmHS3az-84aAkn6EALw_wcB
Herman Miller Aeron
idk why it was accessible in the wild of my open office, itâs really expensive. There was only 1 of them.
I hope to justify having one at some point đ
I am using a Herman Miller Aeron at work. It's ok but I would definitely not pay for one đ .
Maybe my reminiscence goggles are rose tinted
This is a very subjective thing, so maybe not :)
Bonne chance! Why not try to tape the phone đ ?
I'm a bit annoyed by the small artifacts on the bottom of the post. It's a post existential crisis.
The artifacts could be acne. We might be dealing with teenage post existential angst.
You did very well @pez! Thanks to you and @borkdude for the very interesting presentation!
