i have a rando yeti-mode.el file, not packaged, that i'd like to work into my config

i understand that a private layer is the way to go, but the only layers i see package up things that are on melpa - anyone know a good example of packaging something like this in an ad hoc way?

@alandipert: you could use a .spacemacs.d folder and put the layer there, or add the layer to .emacs.d/private
