Greetings! I’m Chris Bidler, CTO at Centriq Technology (https://centriqhome.com). Centriq has been around since 2016, building a consumer-facing application to help people have a delightful experience organizing, maintaining, and operating all the things that make up our built environment. If a thing has a UL nameplate label, a photo of that label can be used to find it in Centriq’s database of over 2 million appliances, consumer electronics, and more. Once a thing is added in Centriq, a user can find owners manuals, how-to-videos from the manufacturer, typical warranty and expected useful life, and other information, as well as keeping receipts, contact information for maintenance service providers, reminders for recurring tasks, etc. all in one place.
Our entire stack is cloud-native Clojure/CLJS:
• React/re-frame on the web
• React Native/re-frame on iOS and Android.
• Our backend - a GraphQL API and other services - are 100% Clojure deployed to AWS via Docker/Fargate
• Extensive CI/CD support and AWS CloudFormation infrastructure-as-code
• Our system of record is a Datomic database.
Centriq is growing, and we are looking to find one senior Clojure/ClojureScript engineer to help us build and scale the Centriq platform.
This role will report to me, will work with other engineers, our Chief Architect, and UI/UX design staff, and will be responsible for improving and expanding the scope of our Web UI and its supporting business logic in order to improve our customer-facing app, as well as developing new features to support other use cases (property managers, home inspectors, etc.)
With a broad portfolio of responsibility across our entire stack, we're seeking someone who is not only strong technically, but who excels at written communication, and is comfortable taking ownership of large projects and full application features. Having recently joined the PartsTown Home group of companies, Centriq has the operational support of a large and growing organization, but we still operate independently as a small team and very much in the lean startup mode where build-measure-learn is the order of the day.
A successful candidate for this role will have:
• Extensive experience building Clojurescript web UI using React, re-frame, shadow-cljs, and webpack
• Experience with GraphQL
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure/devops for deployment
• Experience with and an understanding of the Datomic database.
Future work for this candidate might also include:
• Working closely with our Chief Architect on building backend/infrastructure components in AWS to move our platform toward a serverless paradigm
• Assisting with adoption of Datomic Cloud or possibly XTDB 2 in place of our existing Datomic On-Prem database
• Collaborating with our mobile team on moving common business logic into shared code artifacts for the mobile, web UI, and backend components of our platform.
Centriq is a fully-remote and distributed organization, with a temporal center of gravity in US Central and Eastern time. Interested folks are encouraged to DM, or email me at chris at centriqhome dot com with a CV, LinkedIn profile, or portfolio page as you prefer. Thanks for reading!
Position has been filled, thanks to everyone who reached out!
