My idea for this is to provide guidance on how to reference the files as resources from the JAR

Trying to recall where the files ended up, but they were not in a convenient place. Also, it would mean you would need to have a different path to your resources when you're testing vs. when you publish to production.

yeah, there would need to be some guidance around how to set it up properly, it’s all doable, but takes a bit of thinking
