Wikimedia Commons is proclaiming to the public, regarding the Clojure logo, that > This logo image consists only of simple geometric shapes or text. It does not meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection, and is therefore in the public domain. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Clojure_logo.svg Is this an accepted stance?

skylize02:12:05

I suspected not. Someone might want to follow up on that.

Alex Miller (Clojure team)02:12:08

Pretty sure I’ve complained about it before but it’s exhausting and people keep re-adding it

Have one of Nubank's lawyers send a letter.

Alex Miller (Clojure team)02:12:20

Nubank does not own Clojure or it’s copyrights

skylize02:12:44

You don't think Nubank has enough vested interest in that particular copyright to pay for a letter to be sent?

orestis13:12:05

They suggest that it is trademarked though.

Crazy that wikipedia even takes a stance on that. Though for perspective it's the same for: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pepsi_logo_2014.svg Who I'm sure have no shortage of lawyers and people who are aware of this blurb on wikipedia

@U90R0EPHA Personally I'd imagine that threatening legal action against Wikimedia would be counterproductive since many people who heard about it would feel negatively toward Clojure as a result. People are very protective of Wikipedia.

(& reasonably so since it's arguably the greatest single achievement of open collaboration in the internet age)

The Clojure logo is fairly complex. I think "length of SVG data needed to describe" should be the criteria. 😄
