@maleghast Very much depends on the use case really. What I’m working on definitely does not need three brokers and a Zookeeper cluster. And I’m 100% with @mccraigmccraig Kafka is very Clojure friendly but I think it’s safe to say I’ve harped on about that for a very long time 🙂
@jasonbell Is it pretty easy to get started with? I’ve never used kafka, but there have been several times that I’ve wanted to think of things as an event stream.
Yes it’s easy enough @folcon - I should rattle a blog post on it, it’s been a while since I did one
I’ll be doing a workshop on Kafka, the day before ClojureX @folcon sign up as it’s free: https://www.meetup.com/London-Clojurians/events/254693569/
@folcon And following on from @dotemacs I’ll be speaking about Kafka, Kafka Connect and the Streaming API stuff the next day during the conference. 🙂
I just got our test rig for Kafka working. Made it so you can define a test that uses different "transports" so that the exact same test may be executed against either the mock topology, a real local Kafka cluster. And the thing I just got working this morning, the rest proxy which opens up the possibility of running tests against a remote Kafka cluster (e.g. against uat that exposes http but not zk and Kafka ports).
Just in case that you’re a bit undecided about the Kafka workshop, all the attendees of the Kafka workshop will get a Kafka t-shirt and stickers, courtesy of Confluent™
Maybe we can talk them into saving a set for you for the great services you have provided popularising Kafka among Clojurists 😉
Sorry for digressing from the Kafka talk, but... It's official. I've just seen my first Christmas advert... Three days after Halloween
