Good beginning of the day

teodorlu07:09:05

Good morning!

reefersleep08:09:59

Good morning! It’s still raining here ❤️

Rachel Westmacott08:09:22

Mood Gorning!

Good morning, humans!

reefersleep12:09:02

Good morning, you!

lemontea17:09:21

@U0AQ3HP9U btw, that’s a cute penguin you’ve got 😍

lemontea17:09:11

does it sleep inside the… reefer? 😆

reefersleep07:09:01

I guess it could! I can’t claim credit for the cuteness. The penguin’s called Gunther and is from an awesome show called Adventure Time.

My name and the image are not related as such. The name comes from a sci-fi novel by Alistair Roberts and is synonymous with cryosleep.

lemontea16:09:01

cryosleep… sounds sci-fi-y… 👀

pez12:09:57

Good morning! Today I have been writing on an article titled: Why I Shrugged the Agile Yoke

teodorlu13:09:58

That sure is an enticing title.

pez13:09:11

At least that, then 😃 Let's see if I can make the rest of it deliver.

🤞 1
otfrom14:09:04

I, for one, look forward to replacing my Agile yoke with The Manacles of Waterfall 😉

😂 1
Gabriel Kovacs15:09:58

@U0ETXRFEW What else would all the "agile coaches" and "scrum masters" do to earn a living 🙂 ?

😂 1
otfrom15:09:19

ah, another XP-er beaten down by scrum

😂 3
otfrom15:09:46

I know your feels

pez16:09:57

Beaten down by scrum. 😃 Well, at least by the scrum theater.

😍 1
pez16:09:17

Haha, @U02AMR8032L. The best agile coach I have worked with, turned back to coding.

😄 1
jkxyz17:09:09

I love the article but is the picture of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe? 😅 Not sure it's the most suitable image for an article about being pushed hard to work

lemontea17:09:46

(unrelated side note: the internet has a way of constantly disappearing - everyday, many webpages become down/unreachable, and if no one archived it before then, it’d be gone forever…)

pez18:09:43

Omg, @UE72GJS7J. I had no idea. I just searched unsplashed for something depressing.

jkxyz18:09:39

Easy mistake to make @U0ETXRFEW - it's a pretty abstract and beautiful memorial. But I figured you didn't intend the obvious innuendo so just wanted to let you know!

pez19:09:48

Thanks for letting me know! I've changed the image in the article now.

pez19:09:27

Next time I'll read the image descriptions better...

morning 💨🍃

Saw a wonderful talk today IRL about coding without hands, ie with your voice. Would be super interesting to test this with Clojure. Can't help but think that paredit would be a superpower here.

reefersleep13:09:16

I’ve been wanting to do this as well, to give my hands, arms and shoulders a rest. I’m even on the Talon Slack.

slipset13:09:05

Talon Voice was the tech he used. And he used vs code as his editor

pez13:09:55

@UEFE6JWG4 codes Clojure with his voice.

Robert A. Randolph13:09:03

Yep, DM or ping me if you have any questions. 👍

Robert A. Randolph13:09:25

two people on the Clojure/Datomic team do in fact. Me and another person.

slipset13:09:23

Cool, What editor? And Talon as the voice recognition system?

reefersleep14:09:21

How do you find it, @UEFE6JWG4?

Robert A. Randolph14:09:35

I use Emacs (with evil) primarily, however I can fluently use anything with a Vim mode. I use Talon for voice recognition.

otfrom14:09:22

@UEFE6JWG4 do you have an emacs config you can share?

Robert A. Randolph14:09:24

It's fantastic. I'm quicker than most of my co-workers who type, though as I think everyone knows - typing/computer control is rarely the bottleneck in any technical work.

Robert A. Randolph14:09:14

@U0525KG62 https://github.com/RobertARandolph/BeeMacs - however I haven't pushed my config in a few months 🙂 It's pretty close to what I use now though.

otfrom14:09:35

thx! (my shared ones are pretty out of date too)

Robert A. Randolph14:09:11

ditto for https://github.com/RobertARandolph/AdmiralBumbleBee_Talon, however this is more out of date. I've added considerably more since the last push. What's on github works great though.

Robert A. Randolph14:09:39

I have a video online of me using https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAbigyf6OQ0, my config for this isn't public, and I've extended it significantly since this video. I have full integration with 3 different DAWs, plus the Apollo Console.

❤️ 3
reefersleep14:09:35

Thank you for sharing 🙏

Robert A. Randolph14:09:37

If you decide to try it out and have any questions, I'm here and love to chat about it

Robert A. Randolph14:09:50

It's been life changing for me and a coworker.

reefersleep14:09:01

I'll keep that in mind! ❤️

robert-stuttaford14:09:02

do you perhaps have a vid like this of you coding Clojure, Robert? cool name btw

❤️ 2
Robert A. Randolph22:09:16

No videos writing code. I'm not particularly inclined to make one, but it's been in the back of my mind. It feels like making a video of myself typing or similarly mundane 🙂

pez05:09:07

I would like to see Paredit employed this way! Seems a video showing this could be a powerful tool in helping people grasp what Paredit is and what it can bring to the table. This visual guide has some of that explanatory power: https://calva.io/paredit/ (numerous people have told me). But I think it is still a bit hard trying to follow what even happens in cycling GIFs like that. A video where voice is used would be great. Paredit, splice and delete backwards, Paredit, Slurp forwards, Paredit, delete forwards to end of list, and so on.

Daniel Gerson12:03:39

@UEFE6JWG4 Wow! Just found out about Reaper yesterday. Was going to mess around with it for some violin recordings. Thought I'd just search for it in Clojurians... because... y'know. Didn't disappoint!!! clj :the_horns:
