Good morning!

reefersleep08:07:32

I didn’t realize that I was using my Bialetti wrongly. Looking forward to better-tasting coffee when I get the new Bialetti my girlfriend ordered.

How did you find out you were using it wrongly?

reefersleep08:07:08

My girlfriend looked up a video on youtube for some reason. One thing we’re clearly doing wrong is not cleaning it - we’d read from a different source that it’s supposed to be coated in the residue from the coffee that you make over time. But the video suggested that this is just dirt that should be cleaned. Also, there are techniques to the actual brewing process. Like, avoid the sputtery phase at the end, that’ll make the coffee bitter. I wasn’t aware 😮

reefersleep08:07:28

We actually had the new Bialetti briefly, but we had to return it to get a replacement part. There’s a stark contrast between the brew that it provided, and the one that we’re getting from the old, crusty brewer currently.

Sounds like someone discovered James Hoffman 😁

Using his recipe for Bialetti, too with great results 👍

reefersleep08:07:36

Exactly him 😄

reefersleep09:07:22

I’m trying to take the brewing slightly more serious, have to watch that video more intently at some point.

Since you're Danish, and all Danes are obsessed with good design, I can recommend this Alessi

I'm so happy to be still on analysis paralysis regarding how to upgrade my coffee game. My bank account is happy about that.

javahippie10:07:40

I did not purchase any coffee-gear for two years now, kind of proud of myself. On the other hand, you can get Espresso, Cappuccino, Filter Coffee, French Press coffee or Bialetti-Coffee in this house 🙈

My kitchen is already packed!

ordnungswidrig10:07:39

But I happen to have all the installation for a (small) kitchen corner in my office room. Soooo tempting.

@U054UD60U I guess there’s something to be said for getting the best out of your current process!

ordnungswidrig10:07:35

I don't like talking about me current process 😛

reefersleep10:07:39

I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything by “just” using a Bialetti 🙂 Cheap, durable, storage friendly, gets the job done.

reefersleep10:07:10

@U054UD60U I’m guessing at least it’s “easy”, but I get why you’re not talking about such things in these circles 😛

ordnungswidrig10:07:29

But I've got a nice cafetiera.

ordnungswidrig10:07:59

Like this one, it's perfect for off-grid campfire 😆

reefersleep10:07:47

That’s what I have, except it’s called “Bialetti” 🙂 I thought they would be stricter about their trademark

reefersleep10:07:01

It’s close to a clone 😮

ordnungswidrig10:07:47

I think I have an IKEA clone, but IDK i have it for 20years maybe?!

reefersleep10:07:57

maybe it’s not trademarked

reefersleep10:07:10

anyhoo, I like it.

reefersleep10:07:23

And if you like what comes from your machine, who cares about alternatives 🙂

✔️ 2
ordnungswidrig10:07:11

I like the coffee which comes from the alternatives better 😛

ordnungswidrig10:07:42

Thinking about to get a Flair Espresso Maker

javahippie10:07:23

The flair has the effort of an Espresso Machine without the convenience ^^ But it’s a fascinating process with it

Gabriel Kovacs11:07:40

@U0AQ3HP9U now you just need a good grinder 🙂

reefersleep11:07:16

@U02AMR8032L maybe, when I get more counter space 😓

I have several Bialetti's, but using a decent automatic grinder + semi automatic coffee machine is the current way. With fresh beans delivered each week.

ordnungswidrig22:07:04

I'm an espresso / cappuccino drinker. While I like a bialetti way better than any pad/pod coffee or french press, I see no way to avoid a proper espresso maker 😂
