I now believe a lot of my emacs woes are caused by smartparens. The woe was that emacs would hang and use 100% of my cpu. Last time this happened, i pressed Ctrl-G a couple times, and magically, regained control and the cpu usage dropped. There is a github issue on smartparens vaguely related to this kind of behavior.
I didn't. When it hung before i didn't know a way to get feedback because it wasn't responsive.
