They asked whether a person is allowed to work in US. This is counterfeit-remote.
@U028ART884X I'm not so sure. I've seen the same question on several jobs advertised as real-remote (not US-remote), so might be a legal thing, or something that comes with the Greenhouse template :thinking_face:
I've seen a lot of greenhouse postings and this questions is on the rarer side. It still pops up once in a while though.
In my experience most fully remote jobs still have country requirements for legal reasons. As they list "401(k) enrollment" in the benefits it doesn't surprise me that you need to be based in the US.

I disagree. There's plenty of offers with 401k mentioned that offer it for US-based employees, but foreigners get an equivalent in cash (or nothing). It's unfortunate that job offers are often mislabeled and you only learn the details after applying (or never).
I personally don't think there's anything fishy in saying that you're allowing remote, even when it's country-only-remote. It means that you won't accept everyone globally, but it's still a remote position. I'd argue that's still quite frequent, as usually there might be time-zone overlap restrictions, or even country restrictions for political/administrative reasons.
