Hey folks, happy Friday 🙂 We've just spotted another blog from Kent Beck on bitemporality - or, as he's calling it, 'Eventual Business Consistency' https://tidyfirst.substack.com/p/eventual-business-consistency
Enjoy, and have a great weekend!
Yeah, I mentioned XTDB in a comment to him on one of his earlier bitemporality posts (I'm a subscriber to Tidy First?).
thanks @U04V70XH6, much appreciated 🙏
I really like this term “eventual business consistency”… it answers the “why?” part so neatly instead of the more technical bi-temporal terminilogy
yeah, I'm quite a fan too 🙂 unfortunately, as Kent says, it only really moves the question to 'but what's "eventual consistency"?', but at least it's progress 😄
we actually had a chat with Kent last week on the subject - he was a guest on the JUXT Cast, was great to meet him after following his material for what feels like most of my career. episode to be released shortly 🙂
I’ve read Kent’s book on Smalltalk best practices, I wonder what he thinks about ORMs and in what way these bitemporal aspects could be implemented in those… don’t suppose you touched upon OO subjects in the episode?
