Looking at the ikon when it is used as a reaction it is a bit tiny. If you can make a version with less margins, that would help keep it more readable. Perhaps something in this vein will allow it to render easier as an icon?

I’m not a designer. My rationale is simply that by rendering the glyphs in an accent color allows you to remove the margins.
