Has anyone figured out Activity in the new UI? It seems to tell me there is something I have missed. But clicking it, there is nothing obvious. I sort of expect that the unread item should be placed at the top and stand out in some way. But clicking at the top items doesn’t remove the unread-badge. Drives the crazy.

I found that toggling the unread toggle removes the unread bubble

pez06:10:31

I see, thanks! But I will never get to know what I had missed, right?

Mario Trost06:10:09

Yes! But it's probably also not true that you have missed anything 🤷

pez06:10:28

Now it’s gone without me doing anything. ¯\(ツ)

This unread ghost haunts me in all workspaces I am part of. It made me happy that Clojurians didn’t switch over to the new UI, so I solved the problem by always leaving Slack with Clojurians selected. 😃 That party is over.

> This unread ghost haunts me in all workspaces I am part of Yes, me too

Nundrum13:10:30

On other slacks where the new UI showed up, that used to work right. But I've noticed in the last few days the need to hit that toggle to clear the notification. I think it's just a bug.

seancorfield16:10:22

My understanding is that it shows "all recent activity" (whether you've seen it or not) by default, and you have to click the toggle to show just unread activity... but it does seem to lag sometimes, particularly if you're a heavy user of the Unread view and Mark as Read from that view. This unread lagging is much, much worse on the Android app when you have multiple workspaces and it continues to exist another workspace has unread activity even when you have carefully gone through every new message...

pez17:10:08

The problem for me is that there is no way that I can find, to get it to remove the count. Tried toggling Unread, and explicitly marking the item it showed (a post from July) as unread, but that increased the activity counter…

Daniel Craig02:10:29

I had a persistent unread that I couldn’t find; come to find out that someone had replied to me in a thread in a channel that I had left… so it was notifying me but the message was made invisible because it was in a channel that I wasn’t in

akis02:10:15

Had the same issue recently, and restarting Slack resolved it. Might be a bug with the new UI :man-shrugging:

pez11:10:46

This is insane. That unread activity ghost came back. Toggling the Undreads switch at least shows me which message it is. Something from July. I tried Mark as Undread on it. Result is that then the next message in that thread was also added as unread activity… I’m an inbox zero type of guy. This drives me nuts! Feels like I am part of an A/B test where they check how much they can poke at long term user before he quits Slack…
