reclojure 2019-12-02

Hi there. Long time lurker, first time poster. I just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to today's re:clojure conference. Every talk is one that I'd make a bee-line for in a multi-track conference. It's all top notch stuff. The venue is great too. Thanks to @reborg and all the other organisers for getting this going.

party-corgi - for Funding Circle you can contact anyone of our team who gave a talk or myself at <mailto:becca@fundingcircle.com|becca@fundingcircle.com>

Sadly couldnโ€™t make the conference but also: https://www.swirrl.com/hiring

@fintech_becca said that there were work to be done here. I'm currently looking for things to do. here's my cv. :)

hey, thanks for the info ๐Ÿ™‚ wasn't sure who to contact, so figured writing like this was better than not writing at all ๐Ÿ™‚ will look into the individual companies

Only trying to be helpful ๐Ÿ˜ž

I think pushing your CV out for all to see is a great move. Even if you do have to apply individually for some jobs, loads will have read your CV now, and thatโ€™s great marketing.

@saikyun hi, I think you have to apply to the companies listed above individually.

@saikyun - I can help for Funding Circle, but for the other companies on the list you'll need to apply individually as @cfeckardt mentioned

@saikyunโ€™s showing initiative and applying Donโ€™t Repeat Yourself here Like a Boss:tm:

@lady3janepl have you been to the heckling room???? way to cold there, I can't heckle in there...besides there is no one to heckle there.

Admit it, youโ€™re missing Jade arenโ€™t you ๐Ÿ™‚

Clearly ๐Ÿ˜„

It was really cold sadly, but made for a nice "quiet space" to shelter for a moment from the overload of the main room

Most of the heckles I got were cold, so the room ambience was perfect then. ๐Ÿ™‚ Great to hear it all went well yesterday, so gutted to miss it all.

if anyone as questions about the topology grapher talk/library I was showing feel free to dm me

Thanks! I'm hoping it will encourage more people to attend, and give the speakers some reach until the recorded talks come online ๐Ÿ™‚

Is there anyone once thought about to teach your kids Clojure? My Sweden friend Victor showed me a project that is built for teaching children programming --- George Andante. http://www.george.andante.no/ . On October 2019, when Victor came to Taiwan, he held a workshop to teach children how to program in this George Andante environment. I served as the translator that day. https://github.com/humorless/JCConf4Kids-2019 Victor told me a story: in Sweden, they (the professional Clojure programmer) go to school to teach the teacher how to utilize George Andante, and they get money to support the workshop from big companies from the corporate social responsibility program (CSR). Aside from children programming, I can also share my real world, Datomic experience in LINE Corp. https://humorless.github.io/tags-output/Datomic If you are interested in these topics, it is my pleasure to share with you.

Really interesting topics @humorless279 you should submit a talk to a conference :)

Keep in mind the presence of the hacking room tomorrow. We are trying not to abuse it (as in, there are talks running and people should be free to attend the main track)

But feel free to use the room and see if you get some traction
