Is there a Portal version, flag, or viewer setting that works better on mobile? It loads on my phone but is a bit awkward to use. Thanks!
I'm curious what your use case is, where you'd even be running Portal on your phone...?
I haven't spent too much time on making the Portal UI very responsive. It might involve a bit of work, but I am open to making it better.
I'm experimenting with using Portal as part of my interface for LLM sessions. Most everything is driven over Telegram but sometimes I want to take a look at more details like tool calls and such, and Portal has been very handy for this purpose. On mobile you can kinda of get the gist of things, but too much horizontal scrolling.
I gave my agent nREPL access and some tools for using Portal, and /portal gives me an instance I can access to review things. Being able to click on something in the session history and telling the agent "do this to the thing I selected" creates some nice workflow options.
Since there are many viewers, which are the ones you are currently using that are causing issues with horizontal scrolling?
Do you have ideas / references for a preferred layout in this case?
Maybe on narrow screens each row could turn into a little card, with each column on its own line and long values wrapping. Even just wrapping long cell text would help a lot. I'll give it some more thought as I use it more and will come back if I get some more concrete ideas.
I’m often on a laptop and have portal in a thin vertical window on the side. I have struggled with the space consumed by the table view. Been meaning to write a custom one. Ideas: • Wrapping keys in header cells • Passing a function to abbreviate header keys ◦ (can do that before sending to portal) • Auto-balancing column widths (to fit more columns in narrow view). ◦ More aggressive wrapping of cell content • able to specify column order. • Set a default config per project somewhere. If you make a row into a card, It is almost like the inspector view..no?
