overtone 2025-12-02

Is someone still making music with overtone? It seems like the "bands" are all inactive and most videos are like 10ish years old. I am looking for some kind of starting point where I can maybe see the code for a full song - I am thinking about shifting my own production to a more code oriented approach

There’s also this port from tidal cycles you may be interested in: https://youtu.be/7qNSjhMf_HU

I haven't put anything out in pubic in a while, but yes I'm still doing it. Here's the longest thing I've done, an EP-length project. https://github.com/ctford/whelmed https://soundcloud.com/ctford/whelmed

im making some hobby music

❤️ 1

most of it is overtone

since i only have metric that im going to have fun while live coding, other code metrics arent ... maybe the best

random other code music is on my soundcloud, like strudel, and also csound

occasionally i try to do some daw music, but it turns out to be too boring, and i fall asleep and dont finish anything

I feel you. I have so far only done DAW, but it feels often limiting because many things you need to do are just a chore.

an example of a video using overtone that is not 10 years old: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYbQZEKiDS4 in this case the song is made with overtone, i try to control the song while "dancing". the video filters are made with rust and opencv.

the code is on gitlab, if i didnt forget to push

I have a friend that constantly insults lack of mixing and mastering skills, but in my defense i like raw sounds

Actually theres a lot of talented ppl here, I hope some of them chime in with their stuff
