A day late, but pour one out for the amazing Margaret Hamilton. https://news.mit.edu/2026/margaret-hamilton-computing-pioneer-dies-1007
Iβm taking chemistry 1 right now and I never knew before this, but acids are essentially a prevalence of hydrogen ions. So if you are like me and enjoy vinegar and stuff, itβs really hydrogen ions that you are enjoying (in moderation), but then what's also weird is that hydrogen ions are just protons so really it's just protons that I like to eat. I just want extra protons in my food but too many protons and you can't eat it anymore unless you have tums or similar. All I can think is that protons and pepper are basically the same thing, I also like lots of pepper in my food.
Isnβt it the case that bare hydrogen ions (essentially protons) donβt actually occur free, and water solutions of acids actually have a prevalence of oxonium ions?
well it's going to blow your mind that (because protons aren't elemental), actually you're enjoying a bunch of quarks stuck to each other by gluons you might even say that if you gluon a bunch of quarks you get a positively spicy proton
corollary: if you want it quarky, you got to make it gluon-free
