This is stupid, but: I want to run a phrase past y'all to assess its ability to catch on. "clear code"
Cue all the "it's the same as 'clean' and that already exists". So first you gotta make a "Clear Made Clean" talk, or something like that. :D
I want to kill
murder
man's laughter
the entire world around "clean code", "SOLID", yada yada
its just such a conceptual dead end
but you are likely right - its too close to clean code. back to the workshop
> man's laughter That's something I can get behind. "The women and children, too!"
lucid code
it immediately made me think of deleting code, which is cool by me
anagrams to clued code
as well as leduc code (french for it's duck typed)
and i got thinking about the codeless code... https://thecodelesscode.com/case/234> https://thecodelesscode.com/contents > https://thecodelesscode.com/contents >> The nun https://thecodelesscode.com/names/Hw%C3%ADdah has composed this uncharacteristically somber sonnet for your contemplation: > > I chanced upon an ancient cache of code: > a stack of printouts, tall as any man, > that in decaying boxes had been stowed. > Ten thousand crumbling pages long it ran. > Abandoned in the blackness to erode, > what steered a ship through blackness to the moon. > The language is unused in this late year. > The target hardware, likewise, lies in ruin. > Entombed within one lone procedure’s scope, > a line of code and then these words appear: > >
# TEMPORARY, I HOPE HOPE HOPE
>
> The code beside persisting to the last—
> as permanent as aught upon this sphere—
> while overhead, a vacant moon flies past. Clean code: you can see your reflection in it Clear code: you can see through it I liked Muratori's ad hoc WARMED code
i bet nobody noticed SOLID anagrams to SILOD ... it was a conspiracy all along
just like nobody noticed how clean anagrams to encal (pronounced "uncle")
> So first you gotta make a "Clear Made Clean" talk, or something like that. :D are you looking for some morning energy? Clean and Clear has your back... https://www.cleanandclear.in/skincare?products=morning%2520energy%2520face%2520wash
(and now i'm going to bed, before anyone else gets hurt)
"klar code"? just claim it's an ancient german concept going back to hegel and kant
"klärcode" if you want a hint of sewage treatment plant in it
How about "clearly written code" or "readable code"?
Not catchy enough. It's too verbose to get the people going
I took a dive into the thesaurus. Let's resurrect "pellucid" 😄
Pellucid code is code so clear, it's transparent
Though for some reason, pellucid makes me think fetid or rancid more than clear or lucid, so maybe not 🤷🏻♂️
liquid code
I think Dan North did a whole thing about hating SOLID ... might be this https://dannorth.net/blog/cupid-for-joyful-coding/ and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPCrGYjrJ1Y
> lucid code this I like the sound of ... we need more self awareness in programming culture 😉 ... what backronym can we crowbar into it?
S.I.M.P.L.E. Code SIMPLE Idiomatic Metaprogrammable Prolog-ical Learnable Ergonomic Code (needless to say, recursive)
I think we can all,,, easily... agree, that SIMPLE code is the best code.
