My game design is largely analog in nature, but I do work with a lot of artists and recently hired an art director who has done a lot of art and art direction for video games. You can check them out here: https://www.portablecity.net/ Most of my art hunting is done on social media, where I often put the word out that I'm looking for artists and following ones I find interesting.

I’d actively look for small games that you think look beautiful/stylistic and just look up the game artist’s website. Many artists have their own sites just like programmers and will often indicate if they are available to work and ways to contact them. It never hurts to reach out because you are essentially just reaching out to tell them that you find their work amazing and ask if they are looking to work on something. I have never hired or worked with a game artist but if I was going to, then that is what I’d do.

They both contain a fer which is omitted in deref

I get what a ref is, but what is a fer? Although English is full of orphan and false negations like that; there’s no “ny” to “deny” either.

my little eureka moment is that it is a synthetic word that is just the reverse of the ref part. de*ref* is now, de*fer* is later. it’s a play on them being opposites. or think of “de<--” and “de-->” type. take and push etc.

I mean, defer is definitely an “organic” word rather than synthetic in that it exists in the English language.
