graalvm 2025-11-18

has anyone seen this announcement? https://blogs.oracle.com/java/detaching-graalvm-from-the-java-ecosystem-train > GraalVM Early Adopter technology, including Native Image, is being discontinued for Java SE Product customers. Not sure what it means - but seems to me they are planning to drop native image - without an alternative in OpenJDK - since project Galahad was not merged in OpenJDK

This comment was discussed before elsewhere in this Slack. It doesn't mean that native-image won't be supported anymore. It just means it won't be part of the normal Java distribution stuff. they going their own release cycle again

thanks Michiel

I was worried it was a rug pull 🙂

This decoupling seems to be reflected in the current GraalVM release calendar: https://www.graalvm.org/release-calendar/

Let's see if they change the versioning scheme again to be even more confusing 😉

I'm happy as long as it keeps incrementing!
