euroclojure 2015-06-26

one of the afterparties 😉

We just got back home.... What a night.

But very good fun and loads of dancing

Yeah for #euroclojure

considerably less people than yesterday

what kind of evil monster scheduled Michal for 8:50 talk?

haha would be easy to follow from 11:00 ;)

It's brutal :-p

like the 'hello darkness' tweet if u seen it...

I do now

hey everyone - I have some free tickets for http://2015.webcampzg.org (a dev community conference in Zagreb) in October... if you're interested in visiting or just want more info, find me around or ping me on Slack :)

yesterday i’ve seen a post of smb taking notes in a github repo, cant find that. anyone?

It’s a pity folks in the cheap seats can’t easily ask questions simple_smile

I do love these notes people make - however I also find that for me, the act of writing notes is more important than reading them again. Writing notes fixes things in my mind...

… so I try to write my own notes, then pilfer other people’s notes for things I missed simple_smile

Well if you're taking notes to learn, then I'd love to add them to the repo :-D

I missed the first few minutes, but is the microservices monkey project online somewhere?

I wish speakers would show more code and do more demos

more demos of distributed microservices on conference wifi?

that'd be ballsy

@korny: you going to publish your notes too?

albeit it would probably end in a flaming disaster

@agile_geek: sorry, no, mine are very scattered and mostly of the form “I must find time to read up on X” ...

@mishok13: you can do everything locally no need for internet

@andrea.crotti: Morning Andrea, didn’t know u were at Euroclojure…having fun?

… but if I see something missed in @socksy ’s comments I might offer things up simple_smile

@korny there’s tons missing! Entire talks. Please contribute!

@agile_geek: yes I am and it's pretty good yes having fun

my experience with live demos is that they follow Murphy's law

Bodil managed it, but it was down to the wire at the end

the only good live demo I can actually remember was from euroclojure in 2013, by Sam Aaron

@txus had an absolutely fantastic live coding demo where he coded a small interpreter from scratch using cored.typed in the berlin clojure group

@mishok13: I think I got 3 overtone demos that week - and all were awesome

yeah @txus's live coding demo was awesome simple_smile

Does anyone have recommendations for good lunch places from yesterday by the way?

@mtrimpe we went to "arrosseria xativa", great paella and pretty close to the venue

Ow u guise stahp it @socksy @jellea ☺️

mtrimpe: Oh Bo Organic was really good, but slow

mtrimpe: Thinking of going to the FrescCo around the corner today. Buffet with vegetarian option.

@jellea: Also sounds like a good option. Fast and close :)

I'll probably try the paella at Arrosseria Xativa. If anyone wants to join me, please do.

Arrosseria Xativa was good yesterday, but we did miss most of the post-lunch session; we got there late and they weren’t particularly fast.

The same for the crowd who went to OhBo Organic. Might try the paella later, then.

we'll try Cafeteria del Centre Cívic Can Deu - Vilamur, 25 - http://4sq.com/aNEGzD -- seems to be close by :) everyone's welcome

We're going to hamburguesa nostra at the mall

If you want to try catalan food there's Can Vador (really close)

we were there yesterday, it’s a great place though very small

(hamburguesa nostra)

Vegetarians, any plans? I'd like to join you today

@nikolap: nice to have an outdoor area

@korny yep, and it's pretty well rated on Foursquare, which is a plus :)

@gamsd of course! :) we'll be in front of the venue immediately after the lecture

OK, I'm here already. How do I recognise you?

What are the plans for tonight ? Any ideas ?

@kachayev: are you still around? I'd like to ask a couple of questions about applicative do notation

I'm trying to implent it for cats

@dialelo: sure, let’s meet in the hall after Om talk

I have Chestnut (the cljs template) stickers with me. Poke me if you like some simple_smile

Trivia: the Chestnut mascotte is made by @malwine who also made those awesome sketches/notes during the conference. 😄 https://raw.githubusercontent.com/plexus/chestnut/master/resources/chestnut.png

falcor is nonexistent, repo missing, npm page mentions a push 4 months ago

@gamsd and others: fancy Arrosseria Xativa tonight?

What, where is it ?

they do nice paella apparently

Great! Shall we meet in front of the restaurant at 19:30?

Let's just wear the conf badge to recognize each other

any other interested, feel free to join

Can we make it 20:00? Still want to go all the way to Parc Guell, one of the most interesting places I still haven't visited here...

@jellea Samir and I tried it Wed. night; it's ok, not as good as Zataar though.

@gamsd: it's maybe best to arrive at opening time to be sure we have a table. But don't worry, we'll sill be there at 20:00 so you can join us later if you wish simple_smile

@skardan has joined the channel

OK, see you there, then

Arosseria Xativa?

Gamsd: I want to go to parc guell as well. Have you left already?

i’ll try to be on time but can’t promise.. first a lazy hour at the beach simple_smile

A bunch of people are heading for the rooftop bar at the Grand Central Hotel

@pastafari sorry, just saw your message. Gave up going there today, anyway. I'll keep it as a reason to come back soon. :-)

so where are people having dinner?

I’m going to Arosseria Xativa with @xenocard and others. I’m on my way right now but probably there’s already someone there.

i'll join you @xenocard and others. on my way.

Any dancing action, or is everyone danced out?
