@bozhidar: there's a €5.90 bus from the airport to the city center (e.g. Plaça Catalunya), which is a lot cheaper than what I read taxis run.

I recommend the Hola BCN! ticket that works on trams, trains, buses and metro.
there's also T10 ticket that is valid for 10 journeys

the nearest metro to the venue is Maria Cristina (L3, green). You can also get a bus or the tranvía. It’s just near the L’illa commercial center
T10 -> 10 journeys -> 10euros
fuzzyalej: I'll be traveling there from pl. catalunya, only viable choice I'd found was a bus
you can go to plaza espanya and from there switch metro lines to L3, to Maria Cristina
that’s.. 15min max in metro
pza. catalunya to pza. espanya is L1 (red) to Hospital de Bellvitge
fuzzyalej: I'm worried that transfer between lines would take time. I have a bad experience from Paris with >5mins transfers between lines simple_smile
well, it takes time but it’s nothing to worry about
if you have a direct bus, that’s cool too, but traffic in Barcelona is horrible, so it’s going to take A WHILE
