deps-new 2025-03-06
I am running the latest Clojure and CLI. I am in an empty directory. I have deps-new installed as a tool. When I try clojure -A:deps -Tnew help/dir I get the help for the clojure CLI, and not deps-new. It used to work. Transcript in thread.

That must be a change in a recent CLI or tools.deps version because it used to work just fine. Post this in #tools-deps but I suspect Alex will want you to write it up on Ask for tracking purposes.

I have a :deps+ alias that only depends on tools.deps.cli and wound that back several versions and it didn't fix it, so I'm assuming it's a change in the CLI (or tools.deps), perhaps around how tools dependencies are handled...?
That was my best guess as well. Since it also seems to happen with other installed tools.

I tried winding tools.deps back quite a way and that doesn't fix it either. Guess I'd need to try it with various CLI versions next.

(I no longer have older versions of the CLI on this machine -- but you probably do with brew so you could explicitly invoke older versions)

I seem to only have the latest in the brew Cellar.

You can install any version via brew using clojure@<version> if you want to try a few versions and let Alex know which one broke it.
