alexmiller: I'd still rather we didn't have a clash on the dates. If it is unavoidable this time then that is OK. clojurex dates tend to get announced at the end of the conf, so we generally know our date 1yr in advance.

Yeah it's definitely not our preference

Between the late EuroClojure and the US holidays and when venues had availability we got into a narrow spot this year

clojurex is usually 1st or 2nd week of Dec

Normally we try for right before Thanksgiving but this year we couldn't get any good venue dates then

are you thinking about stabl-ish dates for Euroclojure in the future? I understand that with just taking it over that it might still be a bit unstable

We'd prefer to have before summer, just had a really hard time finding a good option this year

I'm wondering if we can take advantage of the date clash. Not sure if we'd be able to get someone in London who you would like to have on a screen at the conj & possibly vice versa given only a 5hr time diff

the new skills matter location makes a lot of those things simpler for us until we start going north of 300 attendees

btw, I don't work for skills matter, but they are so amazing at hosting so many groups in London that I try to do what I can to help them

the conferences are a bit like a bake sale

They do seem to be everywhere

but we don't eat the speakers. (usually)

I like the sound of a Trans Atlantic conference with speakers on screen at the alternate location...kind of Clojure Live Aid!

I think that would be a lot of fun

I suspect I'm asking for the technical gremlins to strike but a cross conference panel would be cool. I think it might be a bit too difficult to mediate though.
