aah you mean that only the king/queen can do an upgrade/downgrade? but isn't it the case that if the monarch dies that very same moment the next in line automagically becomes monarch.

Well, The Prince formally known as Andrew, since he was stripped of his titles, is no where in line anymore

so, under your thought experiment, if there is only the monarch and next in line with the "power", and they all cop it, no-one else can become "monarch"

Hence, historically, why dynastys have lots and lots and lots of children

yes... sad for him actually. When he was born he as second in line and got demoted quite a few times. No wonder he got a bit weird
