Mornin'
I may or may not be over in the UK soon... My mum passed away on Friday (on my birthday...) and I'm waiting to hear plans/timeline for a memorial and then figure out whether I can afford to come over at short notice (normally flights are around $600 but at short notice they're north of $2k 😐 ).
I've never been to a funeral and I don't like churches/rituals so I have complicated feelings about the trip... And funerals are really for the living, not the dead...
Second that. I’ve missed a couple of funerals due to distance but marked the occasions in my own way. Still conflicting feelings though
No UK visit. We have quite a few family and friends that can't make it in person and the funeral home offers webcast via Zoom so we're going that route. Which also means no 2K+ expense for my flight/car/hotel/etc -- and Jay & I can attend together (at 6 am Pacific... could be worse, I guess).
its a tough decision to have to make
