@peterwestmacott psychedelic....
I'm very fond of colour.
@guy the best way to prepare for a tech talk depends on who you ask 🙂 Everyone has their own approaches. Essentially it comes down to figuring out what you want to say, saying it in a way that most people will understand and briefly summarising things at the end and hopefully making some kind of point (or leaving people with a though/question/challenge). Everything else is just tips and tricks in between.
Or you could watch my 1 hour 30 video https://skillsmatter.com/skillscasts/7853-workshop-giving-your-first-meetup-or-clojure-exchange-talk
I believe this is the slide deck, with will be quicker to read than watching the video. Although I may have said other useful things in the video (I forget) https://www.slideshare.net/JR0cket/getting-into-public-speaking-at-conferences
I'll get around to watching the video myself and see what I said and write it up
@guy or feel free to ask me questions (direct message me if you prefer) and I'll be happy to help. Actually the best way to prepare is for you to give a lightning talk at the London Clojurians on February 6th (this may be a very biased opinion though).
Well I was going to ask for a title, but it seems you have just provided me with one... "A quick crash course on GraphQL and Lacinia"
How long do you think you want to talk for? Can be anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more. A very rough estimate is fine and doesnt have to be binding
Yes. Monday would be great. Any time next week really
I am definately interested. We are using GraphQL at work and so want to see if anyone is doing the same things we are (I'm still learning it though)
GraphQL and Datomic, no pedestal but we do have some Tibco 🙂 Just dont ask me how any of it works (yet)
Hopefully we will also have Chas Emerick speaking in February, but have to check when he is in London first.
