God morgon god morgon

God morgon!

hey so change of plan... the Janet project has been on hold for a bit, and I've actually been working on something else. And so I'd like to instead talk about Datastar ๐Ÿ˜„ and how to use it with Clojure and some of the architectural choices. Sorry for the late notice... I'll try to make it interesting!

Absolutely no worries!

Can I has a blurb to use on the Meetup page for the meeting?

yes, I'll get you something as soon as possible. Latest tomorrow

Iโ€™m super interested in Datastar and have it on my urgent list of things to dig in to. โ€œHow to us it with Clojure and some of the architectural choicesโ€ sounds like exactly what I need!

I figured it's kind of a hot topic, or at least a smoldering topic that increasingly people are discovering

Thatโ€™s enough for a blurb, btwโ€ฆ

Datastar lets you create rich frontend applications in a declarative way. No npm, no react, just a single <script> tag and a bunch of standard HTML data-... attributes. That's already great, but how does that impact your backend? There's a specific architecture that's been gaining attention, based on Server Sent Events (SSE, think websockets-lite), morphing (kind of like vdom diffing, but without the vdom), and smart use of connection-level compression. Together you get frontends that are always up to date, and multiplayer out of the box, all while keeping your state where it belongs: in the database.

Yay, data point of one and all that, but this is perfect! ๐Ÿ˜„

I'm so bummed that I will miss this! We are at the tail end of migrating to Datastar at work so am very curious about your experience report @plexus. Anyhow, I'll see you all at the conference tomorrow!
