Got the FM-1 today. I'll try it in the evening. @simongray Have you tried some of the external firmware yet?

Congrats. I am running the Baud Girl one since that seemed like an obvious first alternative firmware as its basically an upgrade of the stock firmware with a better UI + some extra bells and whistles. Haven't tried any others so far. There's one specifically for learning FM synthesis which I am considering now as the concept kinda makes my head spin. 😅

I'll stick with the stock firmware for now, until I have explored it sufficiently. But it's nice to have such a hackable device.

The bells sounds are nice on the FM-1. You can't make them well with subtractive synthesis.

Yeah, I noticed that the harmonics on this one are much more interesting than my other synth.
