Yeah, overall a beautiful specimen. We used to have a lot more variation in butterflies (insects in general) when I was a kid. Most of the butterflies out here have white wings, so it's nice to see a big, colourful one too.

lol I know you're joking and that it's a sneaky compliment but the truth is that I don't know anymore. The iPhone photo app has a lot of tricks. I don't think they use genAI in the image processor - at least by default - but I can't swear to it. It's one of the reasons why I'm going back to the SLR when I have the chance.
Same here. I was really disappointed to see these 100x zoom comparisons as examples of how "great" mobile cameras has become (first example is Xiaomi, which seems closer to "thruth", whereas the second from the Pixel 11 is just trying to guess characters and shapes and draw that - which is horrifying) Source: https://www.tek.no/test/i/RjaMAx/test-google-pixel-11-pro-xl
Yeah - the phone camera industry seems to be very much headed that way. In fact Tom Bishop, a guy I studied with in Edinburgh many years ago, co-founded Glass Imaging who were recently acquired by OpenAI. He spent a chunk of time at Apple before that, but pre-aipocalypse. My sibs and I chipped in to get our dad a fancy Digital SLR camera last Christmas -- he's insisted on attaching a variety of expensive analogue lenses he bought 50 years ago that don't integrate properly, with predictable impact on the quality of output... Don't go down that road ;)
Is it perhaps a better match with mirrorless if your attaching old lenses? I don't know, but have had some good results with old Nikon primes on my Fujifilm
Perhaps -- I very rarely use a camera of any description. Have neither the inclination nor the eye.
