I should migrate away my old VPS (Debian 11) soon to some other setup. I should have moved years ago. They even asked me if I wanted to go so they could turn off their old hardware ;). I'm running stuff on nginx and php 5 etc which are old and unsupported for YEARS. I want to make it more reproducible. Maybe I should dockerize stuff. Do you folks use nixOS or ansible or ...? I'm not familiar with caddy or traefik, but I'm all ears

I really like Ansible for provisioning, and usually use Caddy as reverse proxy in front of my service running in a systemd quadlet. Caddy has nice built-in https using Let’s encrypt.

I was using let's encrypt but with certbot. My VPS has been living under a stone for years

I did a manual certbot renew every few months :)

Yes, that is fun. 😆 Definitely give caddy a try, then you won't have to do that again.

rsync, ssh and Caddy! I moved a personal site from Cloudflare pages to a Hetzner VPS yesterday. Nothing big and amazing, but it felt great to take control.
