Good Popperian morning! In which there are three worlds, (world 1) reality, (world 2) lived experience and (world 3) our theories about world 1.

I'm going to Frankfurt tomorrow morning. I'll be at a conference close to the airport for most of the day, but I'll need to move the the city centre to go to my hotel in the evening. Anybody recs for public transport? Is there an app I should get or do I need to bring my portable fax machine?

You mean Frankfurt am Main, right? I think https://www.rmv.de/c/de/tickets/kauf/app-rmvgo is the official app.

Thanks, yes. I didn't actually know there were several Frankfurts... just know the big city and the sausage 😛 There is also something called DB Navigator, right?

I guess it doesn't matter? We also have several apps in Denmark and it confuses me here too.

Yes, DB Navigator should also work.

DB Navigator should Work fine for you. I use it when I travel to and in Frankfurt (I live nearby). The rmv app would also work but last time I used the app it was even worse than DB navigator.

Thanks, that's useful information to me.

morning! ☕

good Monday morning

good morning

Morning all! Sometime ago I was asked if I'd agree to be filmed talking about my experience in tech startups, I said yes, and today is the day. I wasn't nervous, and thought I'd rewatch Clojure The Documentary this morning to get some tips on how to look the part and speak well. It's such a good bit of film, there's no way I could match that... and then I got nervous 😂.

Good luck :)

the best trick I was given before presentations: "never care about what others think of you".

Ahhh, thanks, that's clearly where I'm going very wrong! 🙏

and my friend was right, people really don't care. Good luck!

A trick I find helpful is to focus on something behind the interviewer and talk to that -- trying to focus on the interviewer themselves and talk directly to them makes me more nervous...

You're a very confident person @safe.hammad I think you'll do great

> focus on something behind the interviewer and talk to that Thanks @seancorfield -- I'll definitely give that a go.

> You're a very confident person @safe.hammad I think you'll do great Thanks, @raymcdermott. Though I think you were witness to a little Dutch Courage when we shared a train back after Dutch Clojure Days 😉

haha, I had no idea

@raymcdermott surely showed a lot of courage at DCD on stage

Just think of Ray, then you'll be fine!

Since @reefersleep asked, here's some new (s)crappy recordings of me learning classical piano. The Czerny one is a rather boring exercise, the other one is the opening of a Sonate from Beethoven. Third one is Scarlatti. My piano teacher is sick for the last couple of months so I'm kinda stuck with these pieces now :P

Ah, I got some feedback from my piano teacher via Whatsapp. Plenty of work to do...

Hahaha 😁

The sonata really gets rolling after a minute. I don't know if I've heard that particular one before, but I wonder if your teacher's critique related to that piece, and more to the beginning of the piece - the form of the piece sounded familiar to me, but your voicing of it (do you call it that?) sounded unfamiliar. The last half sounded more "right" to my ears. Excellent stuff in any case!

Oooo that "Moar" is my kinda stuff! 🎶

Is that Bach? (Wildly guessing)

same period I think

Very nice, will have to look up more! Which one is this?

Sonata in d moll

let me look up a proper recording

Sounds proper to me...

she actually plays it in the same tempo as me kinda. usually pros play way way faster

She also did well 😁 now I have to listen to yours again.

This'll sound cheesy, but I like your version better, flaws and all

Awesome sounds great! ❤️

good morning

good morning, may your let bindings shadow nothing important today.

Good morning!
