Quite hellish, fragile hopes of relief so easily shattered.

Since we moved, I've switched to battery-powered tools (mower, edger, snow blower) and one of the neighbors commented that he didn't even realize I was mowing my lawn because he couldn't hear it! It's not silent but it's so much quieter than any of the gas-powered ones...

Such enlightenment doesn't seem to extend to our local council when they are tending to the verges.

Ah, gov't can tend to move a lot more slowly in terms of modernization and climate/energy issues...
