cljs-dev 2026-10-15

Not sure if I'm in the right channel, but I'm experimenting with clojurescript after a fairly long hiatus and I'm running into an issue with doc: I do not get any output except for a line of dashes, no matter which var I try:

clojure -Sdeps '{:deps {org.clojure/clojurescript {:mvn/version "1.12.145"}}}' -M -m cljs.main
ClojureScript 1.12.145
cljs.user=> (+ 1 2)
3
cljs.user=> (println "printing works")
printing
nil
cljs.user=> (doc println)
-------------------------nil
This is with clojurescript 1.12.145, with firefox and chromium on Ubuntu. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Huh I just noticed that the println call only prints "printing" instead of "printing works"

Just tried, same thing here. The last version that works properly that can be accessed via Maven Central is 1.12.42. 1.12.110 and 1.12.112 are unavailable, and the next 1.12.116 shows that behavior.

@p-himik yes 1.12.42 works for me too. What's also interesting is that history navigation (cursor up) also works in 1.12.42, but does not work for me in 1.12.145

That navigation comes from clj, not from CLJS. In your OP you used clojure - it doesn't provide history.

ah yes. you're right. I switched to clj to see if it made any difference in printing.

clj is just clojure + rlwrap

Maybe something with output stream flushing?

dunno. (flush) doesn't seem to help in any case

clj -Sdeps '{:deps {org.clojure/clojurescript {:mvn/version "1.12.145"}}}' -M -m cljs.main
ClojureScript 1.12.145
cljs.user=> (println "printing works")
printing
nil
cljs.user=> (flush)
nil
cljs.user=>

note the missing "works" in the output

I cannot reproduce this with master

Ah yeah, can confirm.

there was a fairly problematic browser REPL specific issue that was resolved after the last 1.12 release. It had been hanging around for some time
