Survey: Do you write down lists of manual tests you want to perform? If so, do you have any conventions around the format of your list?
I have a little biff module containing a map which describes my tests. The keys are keywords naming tests. The values are either strings, keywords, or vectors of strings and keywords. A string value is a test description at a keyword value is a link to another entry in the map. So test steps can refer to other test steps.
I have a little render function which renders that map as test descriptions and links to the steps required to set up each test.
I haven't done this in my own apps, but at my first job (~400 employees at the time) they were very structured about this. Mostly QA employees went through the steps every week, with software engineers taking turns occasionally (I think mostly as a form of education).
