I havent touched my biff site in 6mo. What is the best way to update to current state of things? Re-do from starter app example? (I did find that a bit confusing last time disabing default code/complexity when trying to get to blank slate. But not really too bad once you get more oriented to how things work). Or follow diffs with current code base?
no need to start a new app, that should never be necessary. you can scroll down here until you find the oldest release that's after your app's current biff version: https://github.com/jacobobryant/biff/releases. then follow the upgrade instructions, go to the next release, repeat. most if not all releases in the past 6 months shouldn't have any required upgrade steps other than bumping the version. so you can most likely also just skip to the latest release and set your version to that. but I'd recommend at least looking through the releases so you know what's new and if there are any optional upgrade instructions you want to do. the main big change in the past 6 months ish was this one: https://biffweb.com/p/config-tasks-uberjars-oh-my/. the optional upgrade instructions there are fairly meaty, but if you don't want to deal it, again it's totally fine to just bump the version and call it a day. I have an app that's on something like a 2-year-old version of biff.
Ok sounds goods. Thanks for the clean update path! 🚀
